Learning to Manage Chronic Pain with Chiropractic Therapies

Chronic pain is no fun. Sometimes there just isn’t a cure for it. When it first started to bother me, I went through all kinds of medical testing. Doctors wanted to put a label on it, so I got multiple diagnoses. There were some bony spurs on my back and some minor disk damage, but nothing that would explain the amount of daily pain that I experienced. Some days I thought I would never get through the day of work. I started calling off too much, and that was when I tried Camas chiropractors to find a treatment that would at least help me manage the pain.

I was not expecting for the pain to go away completely. I was only looking to see if I could get some help to turn it down a couple of notches to make it more bearable without having to take painkillers every day. The painkillers caused me stomach upset and constipation. Plus, I always felt like I was in a fog. They made me really tired too, and I tried to compensate for that with caffeine. I was a mess. It hurt so bad sometimes that I would just cry out in pain. Sometimes I would just get angry and hit an inanimate object. Then the adrenaline would give me a slight relief from the pain before getting worse as it wore off.

I did not know what to do. Chiropractic was the only thing I had not tried yet. The adjustments and massage therapy helped me to the point I could move more. Over time the therapies helped me to get back on track for movement. That helped me to not turn to food for comfort, and that helped me to lose weight. As I lost the weight I gained, the pain backed off a little more. It still hurts if I don’t keep a good handle on it, but it is so much better than it used to be.
