I Wish I Would Have Moved on and Found a Place More Quickly

I didn’t realize that being on my own would actually be easy. If I had I would have done it years ago rather than staying in a marriage that I should have gotten out of many years ago. One of the steps I have recently taken is to look through a lot of 1 bedroom apartments in Kingsport TN for a place that I could call my very own with my little girl. She’s just a baby, so there was no reason for me to get a bigger place. The one that I found is great and will work for both of us well. I know that it will be nice to come home after work each night and hear nothing but peace and the sounds of my happy daughter.

I married young, and I learned far too late that people who marry young are often not really “grown up” yet. Often, people who marry in their teens or early 20s realize in their 30s or 40s that the person they originally married is not who they really want to be with the rest of their life. Often, the two people are still growing and changing and not who they will be the rest of their lives until they hit their late 30s or 40s. This is what happened to me and my ex-husband. He became a different person, and I just didn’t think that I could stay and pretend any longer.

It was hard to leave at first, but that’s because I assumed it was hard. It was all in my head. Once I actually took the first steps and kept putting one foot in front of the other, it became easier and easier. I was actually very excited the day that we moved into our new little apartment. I like being on my own rather being with someone who makes me unhappy every day.
